The Italian Institute for Foreign Trade in collaboration with
the European Union's CDE (Centre for Development of Enterprice), organized
a visit to Mozambique for a delegation of Italian operators in the tourism
sector.

The collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Maputo is further evidence of the
importance of the italian mediatory role. Another example of this is the peace
agreement signed in Rome twelve years ago between Frelimo and Renamo by the
respective counterparts.
The arrival of this delagation is the third step of a project started in
September 2001 that has already carried out a diagnostic study of the local
tourism sector. It also organized the attendance of Mozambiquan representatives
at BIT, the intenational exhibition, held in Milan in February of 2002.
The italian delegation had meetings with tourism agencies, air companies and
the local authorities related to the main tourist attractions in Mozambique,
such as the provinces of Maputo and Pemba and the Archipelago of Bazaruto.
